Peter Jasonides - Public Relations
Public Relations: Responsible for press releases and being the voice of the Federation when dealing with the media. The Public Relations Officer is also responsible for developing and promoting the public image of the Federation here in Australia and abroad.
Peter Jasonides was appointed to the Public Relations position on 18 October 2009. Before this he had served as Alternate President between 2007 and 2009 and Federation president between 2005 and 2007. Peter Jasonides' passion and extensive community and political experience lead to what is known as a cultural and political revolution within the Pontian Community. Speaking fluent Pontian, Greek and English, the Federation saw an explosion of youth centred activity as well as a massive increase in the number of 2nd and 3rd generation representatives taking position within the Federation. The formation of a youth committee as well as the expansion of the Synapantema event and the first mention of the Pontian Genocide in any Australian parliament occurred under Peter Jasonides' presidency. He also holds the position of Alternate Secretary of the International Confederation of Pontian Hellenes. He lives by the motto of the famous Pontian politician, diplomat and family ancestor Leonidas Jasonides "For our larynx should dry dead if we ever betray you, oh Pontian fatherland"
