The Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia

Preserving and promoting the Pontian culture downunder for over 33 years!

Our mission is to teach and educate future generations the beauty and wonder that is Pontos.

Pontos - what is it?

The history of Pontos spans over 2,500 years and is located in modern day Turkey. The name Pontos eventually came to identify the north coast of Asia Minor stretching from Sinope in the west, as far as the Georgian border to the east; a land of high mountains, deep valleys and natural harbors. Greek merchants first established trading posts along this shore some 3,000 years ago; outposts that grew into villages, towns and cities.

What is the Federation?

Formed in 1989, the Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia is Australia’s peak national Pontian body representing Pontian associations from all over Australia. It prides itself at hosting Australia’s largest national annual 3 day Pontian festival drawing large crowds and bringing youth ever closer together.
